DHAKA: Opposition leader Begum Khaleda Zia Monday warned the government of strong movement for party leader Chowdhury Alam, said to be held incommunicado.
“The ruling party has started secret killings as it did in the post-independence period. It has resorted to politics of killings and created anarchy across the country,” she said.
The BNP chairperson made the remarks when she paid a visit to the residence of missing Councilor of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) Chowdury Alam.
She urged the government to return to the path of democracy and shun the path of “eliminating political opponents”.
“The government has failed to rule the country,” said the former PM.
Bagum Zia consoled the family members of Alam and passed some time with them.
Chowdhury Alam has been missing since June 25.
