Farkhrul urges Ivy to permit

DHAKA: BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged Narayanganj city corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy to permit BNP to stage a rally in her city on May 14.

He came with the urge in an emergency press briefing at Nayapaltan central office at 11:15am Thursday. 

Mirza Fakhrul said: “We want to stage the rally there to express condolence to the families of the seven victims, killed after abduction, and any obstruction to hold the rally is a strike on democracy.”

He urged Ivy to permit and law enforcers for all out assistance.

Over shifting Khaleda’s graft cases trial to makeshift court at Bakhsibazar Alia Madrasa in the capital, the BNP leader said, “It is too much sorrowful and may be part of any plan of illegal government.”

He also alleged that incumbent Awami League is trying to establish one-party rule in the country.

On Wednesday night, Nganj city corporation mayor Selina Hayat Ivy denied to permit BNP for rally apprehending deteriorate law and orders.

On April 30, Narayanganj City Corporation Councilor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and five others were found dead floating on River Shitalkkhya after 3-day of abduction.
