LAXMIPUR: A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader and a Juba Dal leader were killed in counter attacks in Chandraganj area under Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as Noman, 28, vice president of Chandraganj union Chhatra League and Jahangir, 30, son of Chowdhury Mia, activists of Juba Dal and residents of the area.
Laxmipur district Chhatra League president Sheikh Jamal Ripon claimed that BNP-Jamaat men killed Noman.
On the other hand the Organizing Secretary of district BNP Hasibur Rahman claimed that the Chhatra League men killed Jahangir.
However, locals said that a gang of miscreants shot Noman in the area around 10:00pm, leaving him injured critically. He succumbed to his injuries on way of hospital.
On the other hand Jahangir was shot in a counter attack in the area around 10:30pm, leaving him injured critically.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Officer-in-Charge of Laxmipur Sadar Thana Iqbal Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
