DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) vice-chairman and its Dhaka city unit convener Sadek Hossain Khoka urged Army to take back their personnel from country’s elite law enforcer Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to avert controversy.
He came up with the urge in a protest rally at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.
Khoka criticized and blamed RAB responsible for killing, abduction and forced disappearance.
He, who chaired the program, said that during the war of independence an army major was seen to lay his life for the sake of the country. But now an army major is alleged of killing people for the sake of money, he added.
The majority of RAB personnel are from Army so the reputation of Army is being violated, he further said.
Khoka said that RAB is performing their duties for politics rather maintaining law and order in the country.
He urged Army to return their members from RAB.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as chief guest, BNP joint secretary general Amanullah Aman, Jubo Dal president Moazzem Hossain Alal, among others, spoke at the program.
