Juba League man chopped in Noakhali

NOAKHALI: Miscreants chopped a Juba League activist to death at Mahibpur village of Begumganj upazila of the district on Monday night.

The victim was identified as Zahidul Islam Raihan, 22, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and son of late Belal Hossain.

Deceased’s mother Hasina Begum said her son returned home at 10:00pm with his auto-rickshaw as usual as the other days and went out after some time but did not return.

After an hour, locals found the chopped body of Raihan.

Some local people including Rubel might kill him over due money, alleged his mother.

Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Thana, said being informed they recovered the body and sent it to the Noakhali Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case would be filed in this connection and necessary steps would be taken to arrest the culprits, he added.

Begumganj upazila unit of Juba League general secretary Nur Hossain Masud confirmed that Raihan was their fellow.
