TOWN HALL GROUND (COMILLA): BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday said Awami League (AL) does not believe in democracy and welfare for the people and they did not even a pro-liberation war power.

The 20-party alliance chief was addressing a rally organized by the alliance at Town Hall ground in the district in the afternoon.

Khaleda said they fostered some development when they were in power while AL did no development after taking power.

She added: “We believe in politics of development but they (AL) did not believe in development, people’s welfare and democracy.”

Quoting a leader of Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), the BNP chief said AL is not a pro-Liberation War and pro-democracy party and they (AL) did not fight in the War of Independence in 1971.

The former prime minister of the country also demanded to disband Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) as the elite force involved in “killing and abduction”.
