AL infighting hurts 15 including police in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH: At least 15 people including police men were injured as two groups of Awami League (AL) locked into a clash at Chatura village in Shailkupa upazila on Thursday. 

Officer-in-charge (OC) Sagir Miah of Shailkupa Thana said to banglanews that AL leader Tayab Ali group and Pourashava AL president and also Pourashava Mayor Kazi Ajam group of Chatura village locked into the clash when the accused of Ayub Hossain murder case of the village returned home on bail.

The clash began around 5:00pm with lethal weapons which continued till 8:00pm, the OC added.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and fired 47 rounds of bullet and six rounds of tear gas to take the situation under control.

During the clash 15 people including sub-inspector Mazhar Hossain and constable Manir Hossain injured.

Two police men and severe injured two local people Bulu and Sabu Hossain of the village rushed to the Shailkupa Upazila health complex.

However, the law enforcers detained four people in this regards.
