KHAGRACHHARI: Locals under the banner of ‘Sarbodoliyo Sochetan Nagorik Committee’ called a daylong hartal for Monday in Manikchhari upazila of the district.

They will observe the hartal protesting the killing of a school teacher on Saturday night in the upazila.

Manikchhari Upazila Parishad chairman Snaragya Marma declared the hartal on Sunday after a rally held in front of Gachchabil Collegiate High School.

Upazila Parishad vice-chairman Tazul Islam, upazila unit Awami League president Jaynal Abedin and its secretary Mayen Uddin, among others, were present at that time.

They also demanded legal action against the culprits.
