BENAPOLE (JESSORE): A Juba League leader, who sustained critical injury in a fractional clash in Sharsha, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Dhaka on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Tuzam Hossain, 35, joint organizing secretary of upazila Juba League and son of one Siraj.
Following his death, agitated Juba League activists torched four houses of Chhatra League activists including of its upazila president Abdur Rahim Sardar, leaving 10 people injured.
They also blockaded and set a fire on the roads of Satkhira and Benapole halting vehicular movements for a while.
On information, police rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control. However, the law enforcers also faced jeopardy and three police personnel were injured in the incident.
Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation there.
However, earlier on Thursday, local Juba League and Chhatra League men locked into a clash over a local arbitration. Supporters of Chhatra League leader Rahim group chopped Juba League leaders Tuzam and Asad, leaving them injured critically.
Tuzam was rushed to Jessore Hospital and then shifted to Renesa Hospital of Dhaka where he succumbed to his injuries around 5:00am on Monday.
Officer-in-Charge of Sarsha Thana Shahidar Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
