GAZIPUR: The chiefs of the country’s two top political rival parties - Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) are set to visit the district this week.
Leaders and activists are running campaigns in full-fledge to make their party heads’ visits successful.
According to government sources, Prime Minister and also AL president Sheikh Hasina will visit the district for inaugurating the Prison Week at Kashimpur Central Jail on December 23.
BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, on the other hand, will go there to address a party rally at Bhawal Badre Alam Government College ground on December 27, BNP sources told banglanews.
Law enforcement agencies are on alert to maintain law and order situation across the district during visits of two top political parties’ chiefs, avoiding any untoward incidents.
District superintendent of police (SP) Mohhamad Harunur Rashid told banglanews that police will provide all necessary assistances to hold any peaceful program.
The SP, however, vowed to continue their all-out efforts to keep law and order situations under control and peaceful.
Meanwhile, Opposition Jatiya Party secretary general Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu will address a rally at Chandra Chaurasta of the district on December 23.
