SIRAJGANJ: At least 10 people were injured when leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) locked into clash with police in the district town on Saturday - the fifth day of the nationwide blockade called by BNP.
Details of the injured could not be known immediately.
Witnesses said BNP men brought out protest precession in support of the blockade from Dhanbandhi area around 11:00am. On arrival in front of BNP’s office, police intercepted the procession, triggering a clash.
BNP men threw brick chips, exploded cocktails targeting lawmen. Chases and counter-chases also took place. Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas canisters to bring the satiation under control.
The clash left at least 10 people injured. The injured are taking treatment at local clinics.
Sirajganj Sadar Thana Officer-In-Charge (OC) confirmed the matter to banglanews.
