ACC sues Hasina, 15 others over plot allocation

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and 14 others for allegedly abusing power in securing six plots, totaling 60 kathas, in Dhaka's Purbachal area.

ACC Director General Akhtar Hossain confirmed the matter on Sunday (January 12), which accuses the individuals of irregularities and corruption in plot allocations under the Purbachal New Town Project's diplomatic zone.

The other accused include senior officials from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Rajuk's former chairman Md Anisur Rahman Miah, and several high-ranking officials involved in the allocation process. According to the ACC, Sheikh Hasina allegedly obtained six plots—10 kathas each—for herself and family members by abusing power and colluding with Rajuk officials.

The allegations claim the allocations were made without following proper procedures and in violation of existing regulations, raising concerns of favoritism and misuse of authority.
