DHAKA: Blockaders set fire to nine vehicles in several places in Dhaka on Saturday evening, sixth day of the 20-party alliance’s nationwide road-rail-waterway indefinite blockade.

A passenger bus was torched by the blockaders in city’s Natun Bazar area around 8:30pm.

In Khilgaon, a passenger bus, Taranga Paribahan, was torched by the blockaders around 7:30pm.

A covered van was set afire by the suspected blockaders at the same time in Kakrail.

Moreover, a passenger bus was torched by blockaders in city’s Chittagong Road area around 7:10pm.

On the other hand, miscreants set fire to a human hauler at Middle Badda in the evening and managed to flee the scene.

However, witnesses said some miscreants suddenly set fire to a passenger bus in Shahbagh area of the city in the evening.

Shahbagh Thana Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahfuz confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Besides, two more passenger buses were torched by the miscreants in Jatrabari and Malibagh areas in the evening.

In Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district another passenger bus was torched by blockade supporters on Dhaka-Aricha highway around 8:00pm.

On information, fire fighters rushed to the spots and doused the blaze.

No one was reportedly injured in these incidents.

On January 5, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called an indefinite countrywide blockade protesting the incumbent government’s ban on rallies of BNP-led 20-party and confinement of Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan political office.
