CHITTAGONG: Law enforcers detained 14 leaders and activists of BNP and its key ally Jamaat-e-Islami in nightlong drives conducted in different areas of the district.

The detainees include three BNP men and 11 Jamaat men and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Chittagong district Additional Superintendent of Police (Special Branch) Mohammad Naimul Hasan told banglanews that they conducted the drives in Sitakunda, Satkania and Lohagara thanas from Tuesday midnight to Wednesday morning and detained them.

They were nabbed in the ongoing drives against the miscreants to avert any untoward situation in the district, the ASP added.
