NATORE: A Natore court on Sunday issued an arrest warrant against BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman for his remarks that demeaned Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Israt Jahan Munni passed the order in the noon.
Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) Rafiqul Islam Dudu said that the judge issued the arrest warrant against Tarique after hearing in a defamation case.
On December 18, 2014, ruling Awami League’s central sub-committee assistant secretary Ahammad Ali Molla, also the former president of Rajshahi University unit Chhatra League, filed the case.
However, with this warrant, 10 arrest warrants have so far been issued against the BNP leader within past three months.
Most of the warrants were issued on December 18, 21 and 22 against Tarique to arrest him in the cases for his derogatory remarks on Bangabandhu.
