DHAKA: Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained eight leaders and activists of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) across the city on charge of carrying out sabotages amid BNP-led 20-party alliance sponsored hartal and blockade.

Police rounded up them in separate drives conducted during the last twenty four hours till 8:30am on Wednesday.

DMP deputy commissioner (media and public relations) Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews on Wednesday morning.

Legal action is being taken against the detainees, the commissioner said.
