DHAKA: Police detained 11 persons from different parts of the city in drives conducted in past 24 hours.

Among the detainees, eight were BNP activists while 2 from Jamaat-Shibir and one from Hijbut Tahrir.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police additional commissioner (media) SM Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews on Saturday morning.

He said that 11 persons were held in accusation of creating violence in the city.

Drives to thwart violence in the city will continue, he added.
