DHAKA: A total of 178 candidates including seven mayor contenders submitted nomination papers for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections.

DNCC election returning officer M Shah Alam said 28 candidates for mayoral post, 823 candidates for councilor post and 161 contenders for reserved councilor post collected the nomination papers till the tenth day of submission.

Among them, three mayoral candidates, 74 councilor and seven reserved councilor candidates submitted the papers.

DSCC election returning officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed said 30 candidates for mayoral post, 1128 candidates for councilor and 208 contenders for reserved councilor post collected the nomination papers.

However, four mayoral candidates, 77 councilor and 13 reserved councilor candidates submitted their nomination papers.

Polls at Dhaka’s two city corporations are scheduled to be held on April 28 while the last date of nomination paper submission is March 29.
