DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday urged the city dwellers to vote for her party-backed contenders in Dhaka South and North city corporations and Chittagong City Corporation elections, to be held on April 28.
The BNP chief made the urge at the ‘naba barshar’, Bangla New Year, celebration program, organized by BNP cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) in front of the party’s central office in city’s Naya Paltan area on Tuesday afternoon.
Khaleda Zia, who came in Naya Paltan after almost two years, promised at the program that if the poll contenders Mirza Abbas and Tabith Awal win in Dhaka (south and north respectively) and M Manjur Alam in Chittagong, the cities will develop.
She hoped that people want change and they will vote against the ruling Awami League (AL) backed candidates.
Moreover, the Jasas artistes staged cultural program welcoming Bangla New Year.
