DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) secretary Sirajul Islam on Monday announced that the by-poll for Magura-1 constituency will be held on May 30.

He made the disclosure at a press conference at EC Secretariat in city in the afternoon.

According to the schedule, April 30 will be the last date of nomination paper submission, scrutinizing on May 4 and candidacy withdrawal within May 12.

The election will be held on May 30, he added.

On March 9, Jatiya Sangsad secretary declared the seat vacant following the death of Dr Sirajul Akbar, MP.
