DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Tuesday deferred the date of hearing of BNP-endorsed Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral candidate Mirza Abbas to April 27 in a government plot distribution corruption case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).

The HC bench comprising Justice M Moinul Islam Choudhury and Justice JBM Hasan fixed the date after Abbas’ lawyer Advocate Joynul Abedin sought time in presence of ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan.

An HC bench comprising Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore dropped the bail plea in the case from its cause list on April 15. On the next day, his lawyer filed the bail plea with another bench.

Meanwhile, the HC bench of Justice Quamrul Islam Siddique and Justice Gobinda Chandra Tagore gave split order in two sabotage cases.

This is why, the senior BNP leader is still in hiding fearing arrest till the matter is settled in another bench.

However, ACC filed the government plot distribution corruption case with Shahbagh Police Station in city on March 6 of 2014.
