DHAKA: BNP former lawmaker and also Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) former president Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu was buried at Azimpur Graveyard in city Monday evening.

Family members, locals and BNP leaders and activists were present during the burial.

Prior to the burial, Pintu’s younger brother Nasimuddin Ahmed Rintu alleged the government that the former BNP leader was murdered in a planned way.

He said that the jail authority gave him a letter mentioning Pintu fell sick at 12:02pm on Sunday and Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital on-duty doctor declared him dead just after eight minutes.

Earlier on Monday morning, Pintu’s body was taken to his residence in city’s Hazaribagh area from Rajshahi after the first namaz-e-Janaza at Hetem Khan Bara Masjid.

His second janaza was held at 11:50am Monday in front of party’s central office in city’s Nayapaltan area.

Leaders and activists of BNP including its chairperson Khaleda Zia paid tributes to him.

The former lawmaker’s third Janaza was held at Leather Technology University playground.

However, Nasiruddin Pintu was serving life in prison for his involvement in BDR mutiny in 2009.
