DHAKA: Voting for councilor posts in the Dhaka South City Corporation is underway at three suspended polling centers from Monday morning amid heavy rainfall.
The voting began at 8:00am and will continue till 4:00pm without any break.
The centers are Ward No 8 Kamalapur Railway High School, Ward No 53 Shampur Ashraf Master High School and Ward No 34 Suritola Primary School.
Earlier on April 28, elections in three city Corporations -- Dhaka North, Dhaka South, and Chittagong --were held amid partway boycott of BNP-backed mayoral contenders.
But, voting at three centers was postponed following clashes among rival councilor candidates.
Later, Election Commission (EC) published gazette notification of Annisul Huq as Mayor and councilors of 36 wards of Dhaka North City Corporation, Mayor Sayed Khokon and councilors of 54 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation.
The gazette of AJM Nasir Uddin as mayor and councilors of 41 wards of Chittagong City Corporation also published.
According to EC gazette, 2, 283 voters are expected to cast vote at Kamalapur Railway High School while 2,228 voters at Suritola Primary School and 1,815 voters are expected to exercise their franchise at Shampur Ashraf Master High School.
