GAZIPUR: Two councilors among five people were injured as two groups of ruling Awami League-supporting contractors locked into clash in front of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) building on Wednesday.

They also vandalized rooms of some corporation officials.

Witnesses said people of joint-convener of district unit Swechhasebok League Shahjahan Mia Saju and general secretary of district unit Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Qamruzzaman Ripon locked into clashes over the leaders’ personal issue.

Councilors Shawkat Alam Sarkar and Jannatur Rahman and three others were hurt in the incident.

The injured were admitted to Shahid Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.

On information, Gazipur police super (SP) Harun-Ar-Rashid visited the spot.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Joydebpur Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Rezaul Hasan said that additional police forces are deployed at GCC building.
