DHAKA: Liberation War Affairs minister AKM Mozammel Haque commented that branding the war of independence of Bangladesh in 1971 as ‘India-Pakistan war’ is a lie.

The minister came up with this assertion while inaugurating a facebook page on the history of Bangladesh at Sagor-Runi auditorium in city’s Dhaka Reporters Unity on Friday.

He said the liberation war took place between Bangladesh and Pakistan where India gave support and helped Bangladesh. But there is no option to call the war of Pakistan-India.

The newly inaugurated facebook page, initiated by UK expatriate Bangladeshi Engineer Sayed Manwar Reshad, will focus the history of Bangladesh from 1937 to 1971 in both Bangla and English languages.

Mozammel Haque said only that people who had executed the Bangabandhu killing mission faced trial and sentenced to death.  Masterminds who had ordered to kill him remained behind the trial.
   
The history will not pardon the culprits. The real history will be revealed soon, he added.

Director (health) of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s office Dr Zulfikar Ali Lenin, Managing Director of Paneshi group Kazi Anisul Mukit, among others, were present in the program.
