4 BNP leaders sent to jail in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH: A district court on Sunday sent four BNP men, including its district unit general secretary Abdul Maleque to jail in the case of creating violence.

The court of Judge Bishwanath Mandal denied the bail plea submitted at Jhenaidah Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-2.

Court sources said that there was an arson attack in a truck at the district’s Chuadanga Bus Stand on January 31. The truck driver filed a case mentioning names of 53 BNP leaders and activists, including its district unit president Masiur Rahman.

The court sent BNP district unit general secretary Abdul Maleque, municipality unit senior vice-president Aktaruzzaman, student affairs secretary Ashraful Islam Pintu and district Jubo Dal senior joint-convener Ahsan Habib to jail.
