BCL infighting hurts 7 in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: At least seven people were injured as two groups of ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) locked into clashes in Barkal upazila of Rangamati district on Saturday.

The injured included district unit BCL joint general secretary Aktaruzzaman, upazila unit leader Rafiqul Islam Dulal, legal affairs secretary Qamrul Islam, upazila unit Prajanma League president Ariful Islam Arif and Aimachhara union BCL general secretary Zahidul Islam Sumon.

The clashes took place at Barkal Sadar Upazila Parishad Complex Hall during the convocation of BCL.

Sources said that prior to the announcement of party committee, two groups locked into clashes triggering the convocation postponed.

District BCL president Shah Emran Rokon told banglanews that misunderstanding among the rival candidates resulted the clash.

Confirming the matter Barkal Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Karim told banglanews that the BCL in-fight had left some injured.
