DHAKA: A Dhaka court fixed August 31 to deliver order on whether the charge sheet submitted against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 37 others in a case would be taken into cognizance.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahriar Mammud Adnan re-fixed the date on Sunday as review of charge sheet and other documents remained incomplete.

On May 19, Sub-inspector (SI) Jahidul Islam and also investigating officer submitted a charge sheet in the case field under Special Power Act.

The BNP chairperson was made the main accused in charge-sheet of the case.

The accused include-- BNP standing Committee member MK Anwar, Joint secretary-generals Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Aman Ullah Aman, Khaleda Zia’s adviser Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain and others.

Besides, Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of Police Bashir Ahmed, also Investigation Officer of a case, submitted two charge sheets with Murder and Explosive Act on May 6.

Seven of the accused are in jail. Showing Khaleda Zia and other accused fugitives, police also sought arrest warrants against them.

Earlier on January 23, at least 29 passengers sustained burn injuries as some miscreants hurled petrol bomb at a bus in Jatrabari area in the city. Later, a burn victim succumbed to his injuries at burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

On January 24, a case was filed with Jatrabari Thana under special power act against Khaleda Zia and others for allegedly killing one person and injuring 28 others.
