DHAKA: Saifur Rahman Sohag was elected as president and Zakir Hossain secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Sunday.

They will lead the student wing of ruling Awami League for two years.

Councilors from all over the country elected the duo on the second day of the two-day BCL council at Engineering Institution auditorium in city.

Ten BCL leaders vied for the president post while 18 for secretary in the election.

However, a total of 2,819 out of 3,138 councilors from 111 Units cast their votes for electing the party’s president and secretary.
