DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) and its front organizations paid tributes at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in city’s Dhanmondi area on Saturday (August 1) to mark the month of mourning.
Moreover, a dua mahfil and munajat were held there after the completion of paying tributes by AL members of working committee, advisory council, different district units, and its associate organizations.
Meanwhile, a delegation of AL, led by its general secretary and public administration minister Syed Ashraful Islam, left for Tungipara of Gopalganj loaded with five buses at 6:30am to pay tribute to Bangabandhu.
They arrived at Tungipara around 12:00pm and placed floral wreath at the tomb of the Father of the Nation.
The delegation included industries minister Amir Hossain Amu, agriculture minister Matia Chowdhury, former minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, AL-joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif MP, local government state minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak, AL organizing secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Ahmad Hossain, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury MP, BM Mozamammel Haque and Mezbah Uddin Seraj and AL relief and social welfare affairs secretary Faridunnaher Laily.
However, the ruling party has chalked out a 40-day program to observe the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15.
Following the program, central AL leaders and activists paid homage at Tungipara.
Moreover, a blood donation event and discussion will be arranged around 4:30pm on the premises of Bangabandhu Bhaban where Prime Minister, and also AL president Sheikh Hasina will attend.
