DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has sent a letter to the Election Commission (EC) on Saturday, mentioning the name of authorized person for nominating party candidates in the upcoming municipal elections.

In the letter, BNP has given authority to M Shahjahan, joint secretary general of the party, to nominate party candidates in 234 municipalities across the country.

A three-member BNP delegation handed over the letter to EC deputy secretary M Shamsul Alam at EC secretariat in city’s Agargaon area around 12:30pm.

Later, BNP assistant publicity secretary Imran Saleh Prince informed the development to reporters.
