MOULVIBAZAR: Chehlum of social waelfre minister Syed Mohsin Ali, who had died at a Singapore Hospital on September 14, will be held on Saturday.
District Chhatra League vice-president Syeda Sabrina Sharmin, and also younger daughter of Mohsin Ali, told banglanews that the date has been set within 40 days after his death as per rituals.
With the joint initiatives of family and party, the chehlum will be held at Minister’s home.
Local Government and Rural Development minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossian, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmad, Chief Whip ASM Firoz, state minster for social welfare Promod Mankin and former minister Suronjit Sengupta will attened the program as representatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
All cabinet members have been invited to join the Chehlum. However, incumbent and former lawmakers, upazila chairman, municipal mayors of four districts under Sylhet Division have also been invited to attend the program.
Mohsin Ali, a lawmaker from Habiganj-3 constituency, served as president of Moulvibazar Awami League unit between 1998 and 2005.
