DHAKA: Pro-liberation youth front Ganajagaran Mancha on Tuesday observed half-day hartal across the country protesting the murder of a publisher and attack on writers and publishers and demanding the arrest of the assailants.
Mancha activists brought out a procession in Shahbagh intersection area this morning in support of the hartal. Later, they took position there.
Just before the last minutes of hartal, Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker announced fresh programs.
He said they would go to home ministry with six coffins on Thursday (November 6) protesting the murder of six bloggers and demanding the trial.
Imran further said the Manch activists will hold a protest rally and procession at Shahbagh intersection on Friday (November 7).
The Mancha spokesperson alleged that law enforcers hindered processions in Rajbari and Barisal, detained one activist in Chittagong. “He, however, was released later,” he added.
He also demanded that people observed the hartal peacefully.
On November 1, Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker announced to observe hartal protesting the murder of Jagriti Prakashani owner Foysal Arefin Dipon and attack on Suddhaswar owner Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, and two writers on October 31.
