DHAKA: The High Court (HC) on Sunday granted bail to sacked mayor of Gazipur City Corporation professor MA Mannan in two sabotage cases.

Defense counsels said after today’s bail order, there is no bar for their client to get release from imprisonment.

The HC bench of Justices Farid Ahmad and KM Kamrul Quader  passed the order.

Senior lawyer Khandker Mahbub Hossain moved for the bail petition.

Another defense counsel Masud Rana told banglanews that  professor Mannan  secured bail in two cases filed with Kaliakoir Thana on December 31, 2014.

He said police showed him arrested in 17 cases till date. Earlier, he secured bail from the High Court in 15 cases.

On February 11 this tear, Gazipur City Corporation Mayor and an adviser to BNP chairperson Abdul Mannan has been arrested from his Baridhara residence.

He is now undergoing treatment at BIRDEM hospital.
