DHAKA: Election commission (EC) asked the 40 political parties to submit their annual statements of income and expenditure of previous year within July 31.

Assistant secretary of EC Rawshan Ara sent the letter to the party secretaries in this regard on Thursday (June 16).

According to the Representation of the People Order (RPO) – 1972, the report should be submitted fulfilling the information required in the EC’s form including the earning and spending sectors and bills-vouchers.  

However, the EC extended the period for submitting 2014’s financial reports of the political parties till August 31.

The parties’ registration will be cancelled if they failed to submit the reports for three years, the RPO said.
