DHAKA: BNP will demonstrate in districts and metropolitans across the country on Saturday (July 23) protesting the verdict of BNP senior vice president Tarique Rahman.
Senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed declared the program in a press briefing at BNP central office in city Friday (July 22).
He said police detained 22 BNP leaders and activists including BNP central assistant office secretary Saiful Islam Tipu on Thursday (July 21) while they tried to bring out a possession protesting the verdict.
On Thursday, the High Court (HC) sentenced seven-year imprisonment to BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman in a money laundering case filed by Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
The court also fined the BNP leader Tk 20-crore in the case.
An HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain handed down the verdict.
