RANGPUR: Police arrested four Shibir activists and a Jammat–e-Islami leader among 55 people during drives in eight upazilas of the district early Friday (July 22).

Pirgachha Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Aminul Islam confirmed the arrest of Jamaat-Shibir men accused in sabotage cases.

Rangpur senior assistant superintendent of police (ASP- Circle B) M Saifur Rahman told banglanews that the arrestees have arrest warrants against them and are charge-sheeted.

They were sent to jail through the court in the morning, he added.
