RANGPUR: Police arrested 53 accused including eight activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from eight upazilas of the district.

The arrest drives were conducted from Monday night (September 5) to early Tuesday (September 6).

Rangpur additional police super (ASP) Abdullah Al Faruk told Banglanews some of the arrestees were charge-sheeted in several cases and there were also arrest warrants against them.

The arrestees were sent to jail through the court, the ASP said
