DHAKA: Elections in different posts in 407 Union Parishads (UPs) will be held on October 31.

Election Commission (EC) announced the schedule, signed by its management section deputy secretary Farhad Ahmed Khan, on Monday (September 26).

The deadline for submitting the nomination paper is October 6 while the scrutinizing will be held on the following day. However, the candidates can withdraw their paper on October 14.

According to the schedule, the reelection in 202 UPs will be held as voting was postponed during the six-layer of ninth UP election.

Moreover, reelection will also be held in 65 UPs as the candidates got equal number of votes and in 33 UPs as polls were postponed due to several reasons.

The election will be held for all posts in 36 UPs. The by-election will take place in 71 UPs on the same day.

The wiped out enclaves people will also enjoy their franchise in 23 UPs.
