RANGPUR: A section of BNP Rangpur unit called half-day hartal for Thursday (October 20) demanding immediate release of BNP men and including Habib Ullah khan and withdrawal of all false cases against them.

District BNP vice-president Advocate Aftab Hossain announced the strike at a press conference at the party office at Grand Hotel of the district town Wednesday (October 19).

He said, “Awami league assumed power by using undemocratic means and has created anarchy in the country”.

BNP leaders and activists are being victims of false cases. BNP leader Sohel is kept in jail as many as 160 cases have been filed against him, Aftab Hossain said.

He also urges party activists and the people of Rangpur for their spontaneous participation in the strike.

District BNP former general secretary Shahidul Islam, former municipal unit president Kawsar Zaman, Krishak Party senior vice-president Fazlur Rahman Badal, BNP leaders Emdad, Anisur Rahman and Shafi Kamal, among others, were also present at the event.
