KISHOREGANJ: An Awami League (AL) leader was crushed under a train at Bhairab Rail Station of the district Wednesday afternoon (October 19).

The deceased was identified as Mahfuzul Haque Farhad, 37, general secretary of upazila AL unit Ward No 9 and son of late Sirajul Haque of Chandragram.

Bhairab Railway Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Mazid told Banglanews that Farhad slipped and went under the wheels when he had jumped from the running Sylhet-bound Jayantika Express train at the Bhairab Rail Station, leaving him dead on the spot.

A case was filed in this regard, the OC added.
