DHAKA: BNP has yet to send any delegation to join the 20th national council of ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) at Suhrawardi Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday (October 22).

Earlier in the morning, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of ruling AL, inaugurated the party’s 2-day council by releasing balloons and pigeons.

Sources said that BNP did not join the council due to their indecision.

A 5-member delegation, led by AL deputy office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das, went to BNP headquarters to invite BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
