Sainik League leader killed in N’ganj AL in-fight

RUPGANJ (NARAYANGANJ): A Sainik League leader was killed and 19 persons were injured during a clash between the two rival groups of ruling Awami League (AL) in Murapara union under Rupganj upazila of the district Monday noon (November 14).

The deceased was identified as Tara Mia, 35, president of Murapara union Bangabandhu Sainik League and son of late Chan Mia hailed from Mangalkhali area.

Locals said Tara Mia and Ayub Mia groups locked into a clash with firearms and sharp weapons over establishing supremacy in the area.

Both parties fired gunshots and set each another’s house on fire during the clash.

Some of the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).

Rupganj Thana officer-in-charge (OC) Ismail Hossain told Banglanews that additional forces have been deployed in the area.

DMCH police box sub-inspector (SI) Bachchu Mia said Tara Mia died in the hospital and his body was kept in the morgue.
