DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, denying the allegation against her in Zia Charitable Trust graft case, said the case is fake and baseless.
The BNP chief presented a written statement before the court of third special Judge Abu Ahmed Jomader in Bakshi Bazar area around 2:50pm.
After that, she also attended the hearing of Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Earlier, Khaleda Zia reached court around 12:30pm to place her statement.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
On the other hand, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others for misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
