Khaleda’s proposal reach Bangabhaban

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s proposal for reconstituting the Election Commission (EC) has reached Bangabhaban, the official residence of the President.

BNP Vice-Chairman Major General Ruhul Alam Chowdhury (Retired) and senior joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi took the written copy of the proposal to Bangabhaban.

Earlier on November 18, Khaleda highlighted a 13-point proposal for the reconstruction and strengthening of the election commission (EC) in a press conference in city.

Later on the following day, Khaleda’s personal secretary ABM Sattar called the President’s military secretary seeking an appointment to discuss more on the issue.

Failing to get a response, BNP again sent a letter to Bangabhaban on November 23 but no reply came from the President.

BNP then sought permission to send a written copy of the proposal to the President and they were granted permission to convey the proposal to Bangabhaban at 11:00am Tuesday (December 6).
