DHAKA: Opposition BNP mulls calling hartal for Wednesday if International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 sentences BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to death for war crimes.

Party sources said BNP high command is considering to call hartal for Wednesday or Wednesday-Thursday amid strong oppose of some anti-Quader leaders.

On the other hand, main ally of BNP Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami also pressuring the party to call hartal as it will be effective to strength anti-government movement.

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 will pass the verdict in war crimes related case against BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury on Tuesday.

Multi-tire security measures have been taken on Tuesday by the law enforcers in the capital ahead of the verdict.
