CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A BNP activist was chopped to death by miscreants in Dhobra Bazaar under Shibganj Upazila of the district on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Salauddin, 35, son of Lal Mondal of Shabajpur union.

Local sources said that some miscreants attacked Salauddin with lethal weapon while he was going to Dhobra Bazaar from Kansat Bazaar riding a bicycle at around 8:30pm, leaving him critically injured.

Hearing his screaming, locals rushed to the spot and he died on the way to hospital.

Upazila BNP general secretary Ashraful Alam Rashid claimed that local Awami league was responsible for the killing.

Confirming the matter Shibganj Thana Officer-in-Charge Mizanur Rahman told banglanews, “Police sent the body to Chapainawabganj hospital for autopsy.”

But no case was filed in this regard yet, he added.
