Satkhira district Awami League president and former MP Mansur Ahmed died at a Dhaka hospital on Monday night. He was 72.
Mansur, who was a valiant freedom fighter, breathed his last at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital at around 11:20 pm.
The veteran Awami League leader tested positive for Covid-19 on December 28.
Although he recovered from the infection on January 11, he was shifted to Dhaka by an air ambulance on the same day due to various physical complications.
Later, he was placed on life support on Monday evening as his condition deteriorated.
Mansur Ahmed was Member of Parliament from Satkhira-4 constituency for two terms in 1986 and in 1991 from Awami League ticket.
