The High Court on Monday granted anticipatory bail to Md Shariful Islam Jinnah, Jatiya Party lawmaker from Bogura-2 constituency, for three weeks in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). for concealing wealth information and amassing wealth beyond known source of income.

The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim came up with the order after Jinnah appeared before the bench and filed a bail petition in the case.

Lawyer Sheikh Md Sirajul Islam and Munsi Moniruzzaman moved for the bail petition while lawyer Khurshid Alam represented the ACC and Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik moved for the state.

The ACC filed the case with its Dhaka Integrated District Office-1 on February 2 against Shariful Islam for submitting a false wealth statement of Tk 89.27 lakh and failing to mention the income source of Tk 1.60 crore.
