Pakistan trail by 94 Runs

Little Master Bangladesh version Majestic Mushfiqur Rahim producing another epic innings of 191 spearheaded a splendid Bangladesh response yesterday to Pakistan score of 448/8 climbing to mountain peak of 565 all out.

Mehidy Hasan Miraj as ideal foil contributed no less brilliant 77 and the 7th wicket partnership adding 192 set a new milestone. Mushfique missed his fourth double century but achieved another milestone of scoring 15000 runs in international matches. Overhauling Pakistan score Bangladesh took precious 117 runs lead. At stumps Pakistan struggled reaching 23/1.

This match from here has only two possibilities -a draw or a dramatic win for Bangladesh. Overall, a major achievement for Bangladesh which lost 12 of the 13 tests matches they played against each other. Pakistan won 12. Only one test at Khulna ended in a draw.

Day four started with Bangladesh still in 132 arrears. Mushfique was batting on 55 and Litton was on 52. Pakistani bowlers had to take 5 wickets. Litton fell early. Pakistani bowlers started licking for a possible late order collapse. But Mushfique and Miraj had other ideas.

Playing each ball with merit they dug deep. Defying what Pakistani bowlers threw at them the two Ms. stitched together a milestone setting 192 runs 7th wicket partnership when Mushfique fell 9 short of his fourth test double century scoring 191. His 341 minutes marathon innings compiled with 22 fours and a six was a fairy tale. Mehidy Miraj also produced a splendid innings of 77. Bangladesh finished at 565 taking 117 runs lead.

Four-pronged Pakistan pace attack left nothing unturned for unsettling Bangladeshi batsmen. But of no vail. Perhaps they missed a regular spinner. Whatever be the case Bangladesh innings at Rawalpindi will be carved in the letter of gold for a long time. Wicket is docile no doubt yet what Bangladeshi batting unit produced was peerless .

Pakistan coming to bat second time lost young Saim Ayub early. At sumps Pakistan was struggling at 23/1. They must really toil hard playing out of their skin to save the test.
